  • Build a preliminary guest list – Don’t overlook this practical step, it will make planning much easier!
  • Choose a few potential wedding dates – Be flexible but have a season in mind.
  • Schedule venue toursVisit places that you love and can afford. Picking a place sets the tone for your entire wedding.  Choose wisely.

Pro-tip: Marti Leone, owner of The Pavilion at Carriage Farm recommends “adding a wedding coordinator on day one if you are feeling overwhelmed! A stellar coordinator will help balance budgets, ease decision fatigue, and serve as extra hands to lighten the load.  You deserve to relax + enjoy your wedding day.”

6-9 Months Out

  • Engagement photos – Especially if you want to include romantic photos as part of your Save the Date mailing! Bonus: it gives you a chance to build a comfortable relationship with your photographer ahead of the big day!
  • Transportation & hotels – Thankfully, The Pavilion at Carriage Farm is located only minutes away from downtown Raleigh and the White Oak area, which have a range of lovely accommodations to host your out-of-town guests!
  • Skincare – Now is the time to consult a qualified skincare specialist, giving you plenty of time to try new products or schedule cosmetic procedures, like Botox, well in advance.

Pro-tip: Elite Nurse Injector, Kristie Foushee, RN, at Tannan Plastic Surgery recommends consulting with a skincare expert “who can help you achieve your skincare goals during the key months leading up to your wedding. Give yourself ample time to try recommended products or schedule skincare procedures like Botox or filler. This makes it possible to reduce lines, wrinkles, rosacea or acne – giving your skin that beautiful bridal glow!”

3-5 Months Out

  • Finalize floral arrangements – During your final meeting with your florist, take photos for reference so everyone in on the same page and confident you have the look “just right”!
  • Wedding rentals and décor – Reserve specialty items or décor elements to add a sense of cohesion and completeness to your “theme”.
  • Plan rehearsal dinner with venue/officiant
  • Build seating chart – Determine your head table, draft your seating chart and order (or make) place cards.
  • Timeline for the wedding day – Dial-in the specific timeline details of your day, and copy the important members of your bridal party, family, vendors, and venue coordinator.

1-2 Months Out

  • Meet with coordinator to finalize venue details – Your coordinator will serve as your guide, helping to pull everything together!
